Mulder and Scully crash a high school's 20th reunion dance in Kansas as part of a fraud investigation. One of the attendees, a weatherman harbouring an unrequited love, is the Rain King of the title as his emotions are affecting the weather.

Weatherman Holman Hardt (David Mannis) has had a crush on Sheila Fontaine (Saturday Night Live's Jackson) for over twenty years, and his repressed feelings are causing some very strange weather! Watch for a shot of a cow crashing through the roof of Mulder's hotel room at the Cool View Motor Court, and for Mulder to crash a disco-filled high school reunion.
