IDENTICAL MURDERS COMMITTED ON OPPOSITE SIDES OF THE COUNTRY DRAW MULDER AND SCULLY
INTO A DARK EXPERIMENT IN HUMAN GENETICS.
Young Teena Simmons is the only witness to her father's bizarre death: His body is
found drained of blood after she sees 'red lightning'. Suspecting alien involvement
similar to the cattle mutilations plaguing the Western U.S., Mulder and Scully look into
the murders. But they are stunned when a second, identical murder on the opposite coast of
the U.S. turns up an identical witness: The two girls appear to be twins.Deep Throat
provides Mulder and Scully with access to a psychotic with inside information about a
fertility clinic and a possible experiment in genetic manipulation dating back to the Cold
War.When the girls are kidnapped, Mulder and Scully suspect a maverick clinic doctor who
may herself be a result of bizarre genetic experiments. The team must untangle a
complicated web devised by two deranged minds to discover the shocking truth about the
twins.
Notes
The first names of the little girls, Cindy and Teena, are
the same as the wives of writers/producers Glen Morgan and James Wong. While Ellen Reardon
is being questioned by Mulder and Scully, Cindy is seen watching "Eek the Cat",
a cartoon program that later did a parody of "The X-Files" complete with a
cartoon Mulder and Scully.
Quotes
Scully: "75% blood loss. That's over 4 liters of blood."
